Yoga
“I've noticed shifts in my capacity to sit with difficult emotions and give myself grace and compassion since I started going to Sola’s yoga classes.”
~ Yoga with Sola regular since 2023

“Yoga is more than I can ever fully understand; interwoven with South East Asian history, culture, language, and time. All I can truly know of yoga are the lessons I have embodied from this ancient and divine medicine.”
~ Sola Habibi
What I know to be true about yoga is its immense healing powers for mental and physical dis-ease. Out of gratitude for this practice, I share what I know with my community so that they might also find peace, health, and wellness.
My Experience
I have been practicing yoga asanas since 2012. In 2023, I received my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification at Oceanic Yoga in Goa, India. In my formal studies I learned the principals of Hatha and Ashtanga yoga with an emphasis on Patanjali’s philosophy and his gathered yoga sutras.
On a personal level yoga has brought me mental, physical, and spritiual strength, flexibility, discipline, ease, joy, and balance.
Who Do I Serve?
I best serve beginner / intermediate students, youth, BIPOC, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
After feeling the deep changes yoga has brought me for my mental health, I particularly enjoy sharing yoga with my community of folks with mental disabilities like depression, bipolar, ADHD, and anxiety.
According to Patanjali, yoga comes from the root, “yuj,” in sanskrit which means union. Yoga is a path towards reaching union with god, the divine, your higher self, etc.
If yoga is a path towards unity then practice becomes prayer, a place where we connect with the divine.
My Philosophy
In my yoga classes, I guide you through:
yogic philosophies
asana (movement)
pranayamas (breathwork)
mantra
My sequences in Vinyasa and Hatha help quiet the mind, alleviate pain in the body, and regulate the nervous system. Syncing our body, mind, and spirit with breath and awareness, we create room for stillness and peace. It is in stillness that we find unity with our divinity.

Bring health and wellness to your organization
I offer classes for corporate and non-profit organizations interested in bringing health and wellness practices to their staff and clientele. I teach the skills to regulate your nervous system and support those moving through burn out, stress, and other work related mental health illnesses.
“I enjoyed being in community and having the opportunity to share vulnerabilities with others. I felt very connected to everyone with whom I was in class, and that made me feel more relaxed and safer to participate in movement. I liked that we could show up exactly how we were feeling.”

Past Collaborators
“I was so grateful to be in practice, cultivating discipline and conjuring gentleness, with a group of organizers. I often find movement classes to be centered on individual growth, but this class felt oriented towards the collective, both the collective we were growing as a cohort, but also the larger collective struggle for liberation. This orientation towards the collective helped me commit with more depth than I have in other movement spaces because my breath, my strength, my rest, my discipline were not solely about myself but how I show up as a community organizer to the collective. One of my favorite words is conspire, as in to breathe together, and this class felt like a space of conspiring.
I also appreciated the context about the different breaths and movements that you shared at the beginning of class. I feel drawn to practicing yoga but mindful of how little I know about the history and frameworks. I find that many yoga classes to lack grounding in this specificity. I felt so grateful to be introduced to context & ways that different forms of yoga ask us to understand breath, body, and spirit. This context not only really helped to deepen my practice in this cohort but makes me feel much more grounded when I attend other yoga classes.”
